Mr. Robbins is celebrating his 25th year as the music director at La Paz!!!

Mr. Robbins is a graduate of California State University Fullerton. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance in 1988 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, with honors, in 1992. Mr. Robbins is a native of Southern California where he has taught and performed for many years.

Some of his experiences include performing in the CSU Fullerton #1 Jazz Ensemble for ten years. He has been a performing musician at Disneyland for nine years and has been involved in the Christmas parade, Aladdin’s Royal Caravan and Magic Music Days. Mr. Robbins also spent 2 summers as a performer at Sea World in San Diego. He has traveled internationally to the World Expo in Vancouver, Canada, and has been on eight European tours, performing in such countries as Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Mr. Robbins was involved in the 1984 Olympic Ceremonies as a fanfare trumpeter. In the summer of 2005, Mr. Robbins toured Europe and performed in Germany, Austria, and Prague. The summer of 2007, Mr. Robbins toured Italy with the SCYSO Youth Orchestra. In 2009, Mr. Robbins and his boys toured Spain with the SCYSO. In 2011, Mr. Robbins and his boys toured Ireland, Wales, and London with the SCYSO.  In summer, 2013, Mr. Robbins toured Paris and Germany with the SCYSO as a performer and conductor. In the summer of 2015, Mr. Robbins performed and conducted the SCYSO on their tour of Greece. This winter, Mr. Robbins will perform and conduct with the SCYSO on it’s 7th International tour in Austria!!

Mr. Robbins spent 10 years teaching for the Mission Viejo High School #1 Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Robbins is a member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) as well as the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Jazz Education Network (JEN), and the California Band Directors Association. (CBDA). Mr. Robbins was honored to serve as the manager of the SCSBOA Junior High Honor Band for the 1995-96 school year. He has taught the award winning music program at La Paz for the past 24 years. Mr. Robbins has been honored as the La Paz and SVUSD Teacher of the Year 2000. In 2001, Mr. Robbins was nominated for the Disney American Teacher Award. In addition, Mr. Robbins was honored by the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and Phi Delta Kappa (ΦΔΚ) and was elected as Teacher of the Year. In 2009, Mr. Robbins was selected to conduct the SCSBOA middle school honor Jazz band!!!! Mr. Robbins has also been nominated for the Grammy music educator of the year award.

Mr. Robbins has two boys, Nicholas and Nolan ages 20 and 18. Both boys are active musicians, and attend Saddleback College.
